Henderson Global Investors is an international fund management company. This chapter describes Henderson's approach to engagement and activism and its integrated approach to responsible investment. It looks at systems, processes and resources and gives examples of issue-specific and sector-specific engagement initiatives Henderson has undertaken, related to: gender pay gaps; business ethics in the pharmaceutical sector; and tax, risk and corporate governance. Finally, it addresses the challenges arising in evaluating the effectiveness of engagement and activism.
